Ideal: Fortitude - When faced with great hardship, one must do naught but to keep fighting.
Bond: Furthering her personal power and station as to escape her woeful lot in life.
Flaw: Her lust for power knows no limits or reservations and she will mercilessly tread upon those in her path to escape.
Bastard child of an ill-fated tryst between a Jishin elven merchant and a Shenmen miner's wife, Fei's mother was abandoned with child for her infidelity. Given the miserable state of the region, Fei's mother died around the time she hit adolescence from the hardships of the poverty they were forced into. It didn't take long for Fei to fall in with the criminal elements that dominated the region in order to earn a living. Specifically, she became a bandit, and proved surprisingly effective at the role, unleashing her angst over her lot in life in the form of a blade at travelers' throats. Lustful of power and a chance to become something greater, she studied magical scrolls and spellbooks looted from travelers that most in her sordid lien of work would not bother with and seemed to have quite the knack for it.
As Shenmen fell deeper and deeper into desperation, even banditry became slim pickings as more and more people resorted to it and more travelers began to avoid the region. Frustrated and eager to further herself, Fei abandoned even that life and took the role of adventurer, eager to test her newfound skills on whatever foes the Empires had to offer.
OOC
Liu Fei deliberately borrows many tropes of classic Wuxia villainesses and fits into that archetype rather nicely. She serves as a dark mirror to more virtuous characters and perhaps a reminder of the importance of their ideals. Her mercenary nature, however, makes it so that she can work easily enough with characters of any alignment provided she's promised suitable reward. All of this said, she is also human and is motivated to such darkness by her suffering. It is rare I play evil characters and wish to welcome the challenge of keeping her relatable and engaging despite being a far cry from more idealistic sorts and only liable to fall deeper and deeper into corruption.
Her blade, Akumu, is for all intents and purposes a mundane katana right now. That said, upon third level I plan for it to become her black blade as per the Bladebound Magus class feature. The slaying she's done will have awakened the malevolent entity inside it.
