Samurai (4)
Created: 30/04/2017
Character Info:
Race: Human
Age: 22
Weight: 189lbs
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Dark Brown
Appearance:
Notable Features:
- His armor has quirks: An extremely long plumage on his helmet, one Sode (shoulder guard) is larger than the other and the armour looks heavier overall, as if its been weighted.
- A deep scar on his right cheek and looks indented on his skin.
Osamu is tall, with an athletic and packing muscle. Most of the time you will find him in full samurai gear; armour embellished with motifs and symbols symbolising his honour and dedication both to his liege and to Bushido. His armour is a mixture of black, red and steely-gray, with thick, layered plating and a myriad of straps and cords. Underneath the armour, he is tanned, wears simple clothes and finishes off his outfits with a waist sash. If you see his exposed skin, many will notice he bears severe burn marks all over his hands and up his left arm.
Personality:
Quirks:
- He always stands, walks and sits with a straight and proper posture.
- He is left-handed.
Osamu was born to be a warrior, admiring the art of, science of and military application of war. Having trained to be a soldier all his life, and learning that ones words hold great influence and power, he is a disciplined man who holds true to his word and will never lie. The young warrior respects the authority of those he serves and has resigned himself to a role of servitude his entire life, for he believes that is where he will earn strength and honour in equal measure. Osamu is an educated and studious man, having learned various subjects as part of his training and he most certainly loves to read books. Even though he struggles with morality and the choice between doing what's right or following his word, he will do what he's told by his liege. Any promises that Osamu makes are set in stone and gilded with gold; for he will remain true to his word and fulfill those promises, because he believes in keeping to them. When he is not training or performing duties for his lord/lady, Osamu will look after horses, invest in books or take long periods of meditation and rest.
Likes: Reading, training with weapons, animal husbandry, tea
Dislikes: Alcohol, liars, thugs, sushi, dishonour, tengu, drow,
Background:
Moriyasu, 89 (age of death), Great Grandfather
Koretada, 85 (age of death), Grandfather
Koreshige, 51 (deceased), Father
Oshishi, 42, Mother
Tsune, 18, Sister
Morohira, 15, Brother
Osamu is the firstborn of Koreshige of the Morotame family, where said family has a long history of servitude and loyalty to the Kasei clan; as confidants, scribes to their history and strong warriors for their lords. Osamu is no different, and following in his father's, grandfather's and great grandfather's footsteps, he started training to become a samurai at a young age, having been introduced to his soon-to-be lord, Kasei Miranaga. Over the years of his training and education, he grew to admire Miranaga, respect him and ultimately show platonic love, so much so that he showed complete dedication to the man's success. He owed much of the luxury and opportunities he was offered thanks to Miranaga and in turn he dedicated his life to the man, much to his own family's pride and approval. Unfortunately he had a troublesome and outright foolish sister called Mirayuki and she, through several affairs and stunts, had brought embarrassment to the Kasei clan. Miranaga however loved his sister, even if he didn't say it all the time. He made Osamu promise that, should anything happen to him, that he dedicate his life to protecting and serving Mirayuki; to teach her better, guide her to a better life and to ensure the survival of the Kasei line. Bound to his word and through great respect to his lord, Osamu promised he would with a grim expression but a steady heart. So it made things especially hard when she caused a fire at the Kasei clan's seat of power, which killed Miranaga, several of his retainers, Osamu's grandfather and father. From henceforth he bore absolute hatred for her causing of those deaths, but true to his word he has served her with absolute loyalty thereafter.
If he resorted to violence, to attacking his lord, he would be no more wicked or dishonourable than a common bandit. He will do better by Mirayuki, both to keep his family's honour and that of the Kasei clan's honour intact. This anger he has learned to channel through his blades and into combat, where this ferocity has him earning the nickname "Fierce Tiger of the Kasei".
OOC Stuff:
First time samurai so I want to see what it's like, and would thus like to be immersed in that kind of culture. This character was made in response to Lucia's character Mirayuki. I want them to come into conflict between doing what's right, and keeping their word/honor. The relationship between himself and Mirayuki is complicated and would like the opportunity to develop that further in session scenarios.
