"Can you imagine being a demon king or a dragon lord bragging about your superior existence right before you get transformed into a chipmunk?"
"Mortal civilization will win in the end. Running water and medicine trumps hell dimensions and Ragnaroks every time."
"Of course I cannot hope match your blasphemous arsenal of the beyond. I leave that to the hired help. Summon Monster."

The Wizard of the New Municipality
<<Character Folder>>
BIO:
- Ideal: Gratitude: the best way to show your appreciation to someone who made you who you are is to pay it back to their family and homeland.
- Bond: Finding the person who took him off the streets so long ago in distant land. Fell in love with new land, wants to do what he can to improve it.
- Flaw: Is intricate with his plans and schemes but often fails to see the big picture. Puts too much faith in the ability of magic and money to solve problems.
Not much is remembered of his time before meeting his mentor, who gave him a name, Jia he now realizes is false. Absent parents, dusty slums, envy and awe towards the Thuvian
libraries. That all changed when he met Jia -- a foreigner with some Mauxi heritage, but possessing blood no one in his peer group could track. Jia took him and several other
orphans under her care and did her utmost to shelter, feed, and educate them. In particular, Jia took a shine to Tion and helped him nurture his arcane talent. Her tutelage was
peerless, with these forsaken orphans quickly rising above their station and taking careers as merchants, priests, guildmasters, and mages. Her orphanage was so remarkable that it
started attracting patrons who tried to lure her away with the promise of money for her tutoring, but she always steadfastly refused.
Shortly after completing his apprenticeship with a city wizard and getting a lucrative trading job with the city bank, Jia suddenly disappeared, with a warning to never seek her
out and to forget all about her. Tion tried for a few months to heed her warning, but became obsessed with finding the person who saved him from the streets and fell in love with.
Tion accumulated enough money and favors in an attempt to locate his mentor with spellcasting and scrying, but when even powerful divinations failed he realized that the only way
to find her again was to track her down himself. But it was not all fruitless; he learned that his guardian was in fact his half-sibling and that her father was a powerful archmage
deep in the heart of Tian Xia, outside the confines of a particular city. With only the vaguest idea of where to find his kin, he dropped out of the guild he strove so hard to
enter and sold off his possessions to afford the journey.
OOC:
While this character is ICly driven to find the person who gave him so much, OOCly I have other interests. This character is especially tailored for playing 'Logistics and
Dragons', a style of gameplay in which adventuring serves as raw fuel for activities such as nation-building and entrepreneuralism; note all of the starting skills and spells I
have that heavily steer the character in a direction of 'hey, between crushing peoples minds with magics and summoning undead horrors, this guy is pretty good at running a
business!' I'm also very big into roleplay that has the character discovering and learning things in a more academic setting. He is a wizard after all.
