Bio:
Makoto Shun was born in Minkai and ostracized from birth due to his fiendish heritage. He managed to find a home as a retainer to a local lord that seemed more tolerant to Tieflings and came to tend the small library that they kept. It was a good life, until the lord's daughter started making complications... a fight broke out between brother and sister with most of the house siding with the brother. Due to an apparent malady the two sides came together to bury the hatchet, though Makoto had been working late the previous night and had fallen asleep in a corner of the library during the talks. When he awoke it was to the smell of smoke, a fire had spread through the whole estate and engulfed the library in flames. Makoto became trapped under one of the shelves and his exposed portions were licked by flames, his fiendish heritage managed to save his life until the flames died down enough that he could flee the estate, watching various other retainers fighting each other in the chaos that had become his home. His mind was filled with one thought, escape.
He ran and ran until he hit the nearest township where he waited out the even in hiding, eventually catching a boat to the isles of Minata. During the boat ride he was plagued with nightmares of the fire, the flames taunting and biting while he was helpless. One night it felt so real that he jumped off the boat and into the ocean an insane fervor driving him to swim down and down, until at the edge of his breath he saw a barnacle covered tome and the sound of laughter. He snatched up the book before unconsciousness took him. Miraculously he woke up on the deck of a fishing ship from Xa Hoi that had pulled him from the waters along with the waterlogged tome. He thanked them and set off on foot still trying to flee the sight of his horror. On the road the book pulled and swayed him, teaching him strange magics and whittling at his sanity. He had made it to the western portions of Dtang Ma before Xerces' horde swallowed the area as he sat it out hiding in a cave. When all passed he heard of the resilient city of Hiyro, and set his mind to travel there.
