Backstory
Born the third daughter of Sun Fang, County Magistrate of LiángshÃ, Sun Meifeng is a rising star in Quain's martial arts tournaments. Being the daughter of a county official in an influential province in Quain, she was taught social graces and learned the art of getting people on her side. However, being about the furthest thing from an heir, she was given a bit more freedom in the path she was allowed to choose in life. Backstory
As a young girl, she always enjoyed watching martial arts tournaments and demonstrations, a common form of entertainment in Quain, and she begged to be enrolled in classes. Delighted by his daughter's interest in the martial disciplines, Sun Fang hired tutors for her that trained her in a number of martial arts traditions.
As she grew in skill, she began to compete in martial arts tournaments, and soon discovered she had a knack for them. She started small, and the crowds soon learned to appreciate her skill and charisma. Things were looking up for her. Though she was not yet ready to compete in high-profile tournaments, and did not always win every match, she did well, and had a way of pleasing the crowds.
However, during one of the tournaments she was participating in, one of the participants was hit so hard that they died in the ring while she was watching. This shocked and horrified her so much that she stopped competing altogether for several months as she did some soul searching. Eventually, she did return to martial arts and resumed competing, but only after she had made a promise to herself: She would never risk killing another person.
OOC
I would love to see her noble family influence her in some way. Perhaps someone from her family (precise family structure pending, but she does have 2 older sisters) would need her help with an affair that would affect her home county. Maybe she'd be called home to attend some important social event. Maybe her father would try to arrange a marriage for her to further his political goals. There's a lot of cool possibilities here.
I'd also quite enjoy digging into a real performance combat at some point. Though I am building toward using Performance Feats in regular combat, I think it would be fun to try and play to an audience.
And of course I'm sure that her pacifism will be tested in the future. I'm totally cool with that. It's part of the fun of playing a pacifist character. However, I'd appreciate it if I wasn't constantly being put in situations where I have to re-examine my values. I imagine there might even be times when insisting on dealing non-lethal damage could even help my character.
