Jiaying was born in Po Li, to two cooks that ran an inn. Jiaying and her family, despite being surrounded by religion and orcales waiting for the return of the Emperor, weren't in touch.with the local faith there. The corruption and oppression there running counter to what they had preached. As a result, Jiaying and her family were heavily persecuted, the servants of the faith being able to spot nonbelievers with their magics. They mostly encountered vandalism and nonviolent discrimination, but occasionally things did get physical in beatings or threats, which left an impact on the young Jiaying. She had been very intelligent her whole life but it wasn't until she was 16 that she decided to branch off from her parents' vocation and take up a new one. She despised many of the hypocrites in the state religion, so she found solace in the individualism of arcane magic. Of taking your own power and shaping it in the world. She saved the money to be taught and so she embraced the path of the wizard at the age of 19. At this point, the hatred amongst her own people was unbearable, so Jiaying and her family left to Tiencheng, hoping to escape the dogmatic zeal of their homeland, which they did to a point. Unfortunately, thats when the undead began to attack. Jiaying, loathe to let anyone control her, reluctantly helped the millitias fight them off, as this was her new home, and she would not let her family be uprooted again. Now that the menace is ended, Jiaying is simply looking to make her own way as a wizard and shoot some money her parents' way when she can.
