Seran belonged to a troop of wandering Iomedaenites on a self imposed mission to aid villages across the continent. It was at one of these stops that they were charged with protecting a small town from a small cult in the area. After a months passing his leader grew restless that they couldn't find the cults base of operations. Their tactics grew more forceful and more violent. Eventually they were able to root out the cult and slay them. When they returned to town they were not greeted as heroes, instead monsters. The town rose up against them after seeing their brutal tactics, killing all but Seran. Broken and beaten he prayed to Iomedae, asking why they turned against them and when they went so wrong. He took her lack of an answer as a sign of her turning her favor away from him. Still believing what he did was right he swore to continue his mission, only this time his sole goal is to root out all evil he sees.
