Appearance:
Notable Features:

Lian Guo is a tall and muscled man, with long brown hair tied up, a fair and rough complexion and big hands. He typically dresses himself in thick but comfortable clothes with padded armour underneath a worn grey robe. Most of his clothes look thick and very much worn, having seen plenty of use and his favourite set of clothes are stitched grey robes that reach thigh length, with tattered sleeves and torn ends to the bottom of the robe. The robes themselves are lined with fur, decorated with bronze medallions and has a red sash tied around the waist. Lian mixes up his pants, but they're generally form-fitting with plenty of flexibility and he wears tough shoes. His facial hair is rugged, much like the roughness of his skin and his eyes have a unusual glint about them. He appears calm; relaxed in posture and not so caring of his outwardly appearance. Lian carries a small sword by his waist, a large taped sword on his back, a long smooth pipe made from yew and he often wears a straw rice hat that has several holes in it. The corners of his mouth always seem dimpled and/or wrinkled, depicting aged or severity in his demeanour.
Personality:
Quirks:
- Growls in a bestial manner when upset.
- Likes to hold his pipe in between his middle and ring finger.
-
As a man of relatively few words, Lian doesn't talk much but tries to make what he says mean something. He is patient and takes his time with tasks, hardworking and not too concerned with taking more than what is neccessary, in regards to reward from hard work. He has pride in who he is, but refrains from turning into his true form within civilised areas, which also makes him more brisk in his work or activities. Guo is wary of poachers and other hunters, doesn't like undead for being unnatural creations and finds himself uncomfortable in busy places. To those he meets often, or considers a friend, he is loyal, likes to share a drink with and engages in conversation. To those he dislikes or hates, he will ignore, avoid or if forced to confront, he will be aggressive or curt. When Lian is angry he growls, but when he's pissed off more of his bestial features rise to the surface. In combat the man prefers using his claws or the natural world around him; small trees he can rip out of the ground, boulders and rocks to throw or anything he can get his hands on. The swords he carries are out of a sign of respect for his origins and will only use such weapons if forced. Lian Guo has come into contact with the spiritual side of himself after he reached puberty and is very much in tune. He meditates, prays and reveres the spirits of nature and sees it as his duty to combat monstrous and unnatural creatures.

The Lian family is a clan of Skinwalkers that lives in the southern forests of Jinin, after their ancestors escaped the clutches of the Jade Regent many decades ago, when they were forced to flee their home in Minkai westward. The Lian family fled across the sea, having heard stories and rumours of elven clans settling in Jinin, creating codes of honor and working the natural world. When they fled to Jinin, the elves were welcoming and sympathetic to the cause, so they gave them the right to settle and a chance for a new, peaceful start. Yet the hatred within themselves and what they harboured towards the regent still remained, passing down the generations and eventually down to Guo. His skinwalking bloodline came through when he hit puberty and the first time he changed was during a spontaneous and uncontrollable rage; only calming down after smashing several objects, uprooting several trees and persistent attempt by his parents to restrain him.
Feeling guilty for Lian Guo, his father and mother would teach and guide their son about his heritage and how to control the anger inside, unlocking a new spirituality within the young man. Aika with decades of experience and masterful control of her inner emotions, along with the help of several Elven village elders, they had helped Lian Guo find ways to help him meditate. Guo spent several years learning, journeying into deep thoughts and practising his meditation techniques, through his human and bestial forms. He learned to accept the responsibilities and duties of his heritage; to grow to become a guardian of nature and take pride in who he is. This whole process was very much the same for each and every one of his siblings, although Xinyi had the most problems and caused accidental grievous harm to their brother, Jie. This prevented Jie from making it too far into adulthood; crippled and unable to venture far beyond his family's home. Still, in the years that followed Guo reached his prime and was ready to venture out into the world.
Now in recent days, the Lian clan has a comfortable, idyllic and peaceful sanctuary as their home. It was time for Guo to leave home, a long-standing tradition for the Lian clan members to mature, marry off and find their own place in the world. Each of them knew there was still a home that they could return to if they needed, but many don't return, at least for long. So, now was Lian Guo's time to find his own purpose in life, gifted with great strength of mind and body to help him on his journey.
OOC Stuff (for GMs sake):
He's essentially around for a few reasons: to strengthen himself, to find his own close-knit community and to perhaps settle down. Over time I want him to experience loss and pain to help portray that even though his anger is a source of strength, that it's born from being hurt. He is opposed to undead, demons, devils, other unnatural creations and barbaric offspring of such things; Gnolls, vampires, etc. I want him to grow in strength so he is revered as a ferocious guardian of the natural world; using deadly claws and even being able to uproot trees and use them as weapons. I'll be playing him as a character that doesn't often interact with those inside the city, so those who want to RP with him will have to seek him out (aka. to ask specifically for him). I want him to get increasingly stronger, both in mind and body, so he can interact with increasingly mystifying spirits and other mythological creatures. It'd be nice if I could get Lian Guo to encounter all sorts of creatures, both natural and unnatural and perhaps earn a patron spirit or fabled creature to support him and guide him. Another point to this character, is that I hope to show a different aspect of anger and rage, away from the typical barbarian-esque kind. Hopefully if I can portray it right The feelings of hurt, abandonment, betrayal and resentment have passed down to him and while he is aware of his anger and can control it, he is confused by it nonetheless. Smoking and meditation are his coping methods. When I say close-knit community, it could be anything from a close circle of friends, to founding his own village, to starting his own family. As for settling down, it kinda goes hand-in-hand with finding a community.
